Josie F. “Toots” Evans, 87, of Stillwater and formerly of Shawnee, passed away Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, at Renaissance Assisted Living Center in Stillwater.

Josie F. “Toots” Evans, 87, of Stillwater and formerly of Shawnee, passed away Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, at Renaissance Assisted Living Center in Stillwater.

Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m., Monday, Feb. 26, at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee. Pastor Will Wilson will officiate.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 22, and Friday, Feb. 23, and 1 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 25, at Dighton-Marler Funeral Home in Stillwater.

Josie was born Jan. 3, 1931, in Tecumseh to J.K. and Ruby (Edwards) Hooley. She was one of 14 children born to this union.

She married Homer Floyd Evans Jr. on June 18, 1948. They were blessed with 68 years of marriage until Floyd’s passing in 2016. She lived in Shawnee for many years until moving to Stillwater to be closer to family when her health began to fail her.

She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Shawnee. She loved garage sales, estate sales, and traveling to Las Vegas with her husband.

She is survived by two daughters, Connie Banta and husband Rick of Tuttle, and Terry McCall and husband Billy of Broken Arrow; four granddaughters; several great-grandchildren; one sister, Wanda Miller of Ponca City; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends and her Renaissance extended family. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
