Shawnee Cops N Kids will have a new location this year.

This year the event will move the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center in Shawnee.

The event will be held Aug. 25 in the expo center parking lot and will move to one of the buildings if there is bad weather.

Activities will include games, a dunk tank, face painting, inflatables, finger-printing, prizes and giveaways, sack races, three-legged races, clowns, car seat checks and police car rides, as well as a helicopter and a disc jockey, Shawnee Police Cpl. Vivian Lozano-Stafford said.

Lozano-Stafford said they had 500 T-shirts for children last year and know there were 800 or more that showed up. This year, organizers are working toward getting 1,000 T-shirts for the kids, she said.

“We would like to encourage the Shawnee community and local businesses to participate in this event,” Lozano-Stafford said.

Last year's Cops N Kids event drew a large crowd — yielding about 1,500 participants.

Any businesses wanting to donate to the event or help by volunteering may call Lozano-Stafford at (405) 501-3357.
