The 2341 Sprockets robotics team was awarded the UL Safety Award and the Engineering Inspiration award at the Dallas Regional Sunday.
The Sprockets will be going to World Championship in Houston in April.
The Engineering Inspiration award is based on all the STEM and FIRST outreach done during the year.
“It truly is a reflection of our pre-engineering academy and others' efforts,” Kristi Stricklin, pre-engineering/chemistry instructor at Gordon Cooper Technology Center, said. “Sue Ellen, Paul, Jamie, Roger, David and Missy all put in countless hours toward this cause.”
She said the team also have a group of parents and other mentors that have helped in numerous ways.
“Our sponsors like Boeing, Tinker Air Force Base, and others, provide mentors and monetary support,” she said. “GCTC provides help for our robot construction, machining, graphic needs, facilities, transportation, and so many things without which our GCTC robotics programs could not be successful. We could NOT do this without all of your help.”
The FTC 10641 Atomic Gears will be traveling to the FTC Super Regional in Georgia this week.
