Shawnee city sales tax collections are down for February (for January), compared to the same month a year ago.

Cindy Arnold, finance director and city treasurer, reports the February sales tax check received was $1,652,541— down $23,872 or 1.42 percent lower than February 2017.

“For the year, we are up 1.12 percent, which is slightly below what we budgeted for,” Arnold said.

Use Tax collected in February was $109,994 –– up $18,974 or 20.84 percent compared to February of 2017.

“Compared to last year, use tax is up $141,835 or 11.55 percent for the year,” Arnold said.

County

Pottawatomie County's sales tax collections for February showed a decrease in revenue over February 2017. Treasurer Wendy Magnus reported collections totaled $691,670.06, down from the same month a year ago when $704,056.86 was received –– a decrease of $12,386.80.

County collections for March showed a small increase in revenue over March 2017. Totaling $583,764.63, figures were slightly higher than the $582,549.43 reported at this time last year — an increase of $1,215.20.
