Shawnee city sales tax collections are down for March, compared to the same month a year ago.

Cindy Arnold, finance director and city treasurer, reports the March sales tax check received this month was $1,308,463, down $62,527 or 4.56 percent lower than March 2017, which was $1,370,990.

“For the year, we are up 1.12 percent, which is slightly below what we budgeted for,” Arnold said.

Use Tax collected is $95,761 –– down $35,561 or 37.13 precent compared to March of 2017, when $131,322 was received.

“Compared to last year, Use Tax is up $124,007 or 12 percent for the year,” she said.

County

County collections for March showed a small increase in revenue over March 2017. Totaling $583,764.63, figures were slightly higher than the $582,549.43 reported at this time last year — an increase of $1,215.20.
