Mr. Robert Curry Stevens, of Shawnee, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at the age of 86.

Mr. Robert Curry Stevens, of Shawnee, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at the age of 86.

“Bob” was born to Richard “Curry” and Eunice (Niblack) Stevens on April 20, 1931, in Shawnee. He grew up as the eldest of three children and attended Shawnee Public Schools.

He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1949 and Oklahoma Baptist University in 1958.

He served in the U.S. Army from September 1952 through September 1954. He worked at Tinker Air Force Base as a computer section chief from 1961 until his retirement in 1985.

In 1960, he married the love of his life, Cathy Skeen. They raised three children.

Bob was an accomplished golfer and an accomplished grandpa. He shared this talent with his wife and children. They have fond memories of their time on the golf course. He was a lifetime member of the Shawnee Elks Lodge #657.

He was a friendly and witty individual who always had an easy smile and a good story to share. He had a great work ethic that he passed on to his children and grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Curry and Eunice Stevens; his brother, Joe Stevens; and his sister, Nina Stevens Claborn.

Bob is survived by his wife, Cathy Stevens; his daughters and their husbands, Shelly and Scott Roper and Suzanne and Louis Maltos; his son, Steve Stevens; nine grandchildren, Justin, Kaylee and Emma Roper, Louis, Zachary, and Miranda Maltos, and Ashley Stevens Antosh, Brooke Stevens Butcher, and Morgan Stevens Tran; and seven great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to drop in to celebrate Bob’s life at the Elks Golf and Country Club, 13500 Acme Road, Shawnee, on Saturday, March 24, from 2 to 4 p.m.

The family is grateful for the condolences, but in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Oklahoma Library of the Blind, 300 NE 18th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73105.
