During a special meeting Monday afternoon, Shawnee's Board of Education also formally approved a resolution to support its teachers in light of a looming teacher strike in Oklahoma.

The resolution reads that the Board of Education supports a salary increase for public school teachers and encourages the Oklahoma Legislature to find a dedicated source of revenue that can be utilized to fund a much-needed, reoccurring salary increase for the public teachers of Oklahoma.

The House, during an evening session Monday, voted in favor of a revenue package. The measure now goes to the Senate.
