Shawnee High School senior Tiara Blackshire is a leader in the classroom and on the softball field.

She has been selected as one of The Shawnee News-Star and Patriot Auto Group Students of the Month for April and is now in the running to win a car.

“She is a true leader, truly selfless, humble and is very compassionate,” Assistant Principal Ray Shaffer said.

Along with being an All-District catcher on the Shawnee Lady Wolves' softball team and a member of the tennis team, Blackshire is very active in Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), serving as the chapter president.

Blackshire is active in the Shawnee community.

With her FCA chapter, Blackshire helped organize a dinner for the homeless and donated the leftover food to Hope House in Shawnee. She also volunteers at the Salvation Army serves lunch at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church.

Blackshire will go on a mission trip to Kenya, Africa this summer.

After graduation, Blackshire is committed to play softball at Lyons College and plans on majoring in secondary education. She currently maintains a 3.37 GPA.
