A group of parents braved the cold and snow Saturday morning to protest in support of teachers before Shawnee Public Schools announced being closed Monday.

Several area school districts plan to close again Monday as part of the statewide teacher walkout. As of press deadline Saturday, closings known for Monday are: Tecumseh, Dale, McLoud, Pleasant Grove, Seminole and Shawnee.

Immanuel Baptist Church also announced it would host a free day camp for children if the schools continue to close for the teacher walkout. The camp for children in grades pre-K through fifth will include a free breakfast and lunch. To register a child, go to ibcshawnee.org/childcare. If a child has already been to the camp, no further registration is needed. If the child was registered but did not attend, re-registration is required.
