John F. Harwell, 76, lifelong resident of Tecumseh, passed from this life Tuesday, April 3, 2018, in Oklahoma City.

John F. Harwell, 76, lifelong resident of Tecumseh, passed from this life Tuesday, April 3, 2018, in Oklahoma City.

He was born Feb. 24, 1942, to John and Pauline Harwell in Shawnee.

John was raised in Tecumseh and attended Tecumseh Public Schools. He graduated with the class of 1960 from Tecumseh High School.

He married Iler Faye Armstrong on Sept. 2, 1966, in Tecumseh.

John proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a fire arms instructor and retired as a Master Sergeant, including his Reserve time he served a total of 27 years.

He was a machinist, welder and millwright and owned and operated Harwell Manufacturing in Tecumseh for over 30 years.

John was a member of the Broadway United Methodist Church in Tecumseh and a member of the Tecumseh High School Alumni Association.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Corey Logan Seigler; his parents, John and Pauline Harwell; two brothers, Louis H. Harwell and William “Bill” Harwell; and sister, Virginia Lee Sanders.

Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 51½ years, Faye Harwell of the home; two daughters, Sheila and Steve Seigler of Edmond, and Kristen and John Munno of Edmond; son, Clay Harwell and Donna Miller of Guthrie; two grandchildren, Courtney Seigler and Cassidy Seigler; two sisters, Peggy Harwell of Shawnee, and Patsy Axtman of Florissant, Missouri; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and a host of friends.

The family has designated Revive Freewill Baptist Church Youth Fund, 121 Rangeline Road, Tecumseh, OK 74873 as appropriate for memorials in lieu of flowers.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, April 14, at the Tecumseh Alumni Building, 901 N. 13th Street, Tecumseh, with Reverend Jason Hart, Revive Freewill Baptist Church in Tecumseh, officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
