In May 1953, the Turner Turnpike was opened. Kathleen’s parents along with their five children opened the turnpike in a covered wagon with two mules and the family dog. They made the 86.5 mile trek, stopping to camp and cook over a campfire along the roadside all the way from Tulsa to Oklahoma City.

Kathleen graduated from NEO A+M College in 1971 with a nursing degree and retired from the Oklahoma City School Board where she was the sole nurse for a multitude of handicapped children at the Carver Center School and then at Belle Isle School. These kids became her second family.

All who knew Kathleen loved her. She also had a green thumb. Kathleen had her own greenhouse and she raised huge gardens. She preserved the food from the gardens for her family. Kathleen also loved her dogs with all of her heart and they adored her.
