After a slight rain delay Shawnee took on Jenks and Muskogee Thursday on the first day of their Class 6A regional baseball tournament at Bixby. The Wolves lost their opener to Jenks 10-3 but beat Muskogee 3-1 in consolation to knock the Roughers off and keep in the running for a shot at state.

BIXBY – After a slight rain delay Shawnee took on Jenks and Muskogee Thursday on the first day of their Class 6A regional baseball tournament at Bixby. The Wolves lost their opener to Jenks 10-3 but beat Muskogee 3-1 in consolation to knock the Roughers off and keep in the running for a shot at state.

Carson Payne pitched the complete game against Muskogee and struck out seven. He gave up one run on four hits.

Jacob Hill went 3-4 to lead the bats, Jaret Johnson was 2-4 and Creed Killgore was 1-3.

The Wolves opened the day with a 10-3 loss to Jenks.

Johnson drove in a run on a sacrifice Kade Self and Cale Reed were both 1-2 and Jay Easley had a hit.

The Wolves will play today at 4 p.m. in an elimination game against Bixby. The winner will have to beat Jenks twice to earn a spot at state.
