Shawnee police officers were involved in an officer-involved shooting overnight.

Shawnee Police Chief Mason Wilson said the incident occurred about 2:30 a.m. and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has been called to investigate.

Wilson said officers responded to 40209 Wolverine Road at 2:33 a.m. for a domestic disturbance. Officers were advised a suspect was armed with a handgun and a shotgun but other residents were unsure of his whereabouts, he reported.

"Officers were checking the residence and the yard when they encountered the suspect," Wilson said. "The suspect pointed a firearm at the officers and was shot by officers."

The suspect was transported to an Oklahoma City hospital, the chief said. Information on the suspect's condition is awaited.
