Shawnee resident Joe Stephenson, 91, passed away Friday, June 8, 2018, in Norman, Oklahoma.

Viewing will begin on Tuesday. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, at the Enid Cemetery in Enid, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Walker Funeral Service, Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Joe was born Dec. 7, 1926 in Stillwater, Oklahoma, to Joe and Opal Stephenson. He graduated from Enid High School in 1944. He later attended Phillips University and Oklahoma State University. He served in the United States Army during WWII. He married Betty (More) and they were married 57 years. He was member of the Elks Lodge and the American Legion. He was an avid golfer and sports fan, and he traveled extensively and visited every state in America.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; a daughter, Diane; a son, Joe; and two brothers, I.R., and Jim.

Survivors include two daughters: Deborah Stephenson of Shawnee, Cathi Kidd of Shawnee; five grandchildren: Tricia Carter of Tennessee, Tiffani Swanson of Arkansas, Chance Hooper of Minnesota, Amanda Hooper of Idaho, Kyle Alexander of Washington; seven great-grandchildren; sister: Judy Chambers of Enid; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
