A Wanette man was pronounced dead Wednesday morning on State Highway 39.

The accident occurred at 12:42 a.m.. Randell H. Newton, 61, was driving east on the highway at Drummond Road when he rolled his 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.

Randell was ejected about 19 feet from the vehicle.

The report stated the pickup rolled for undetermined reasons. Randell’s pickup traveled off of the roadway to the right, overcorrected and reentered into a slide. He then ran into a ditch and overturned twice, landing on his wheels.

According to the report, the accident is still under investigation. Airbags were not deployed, and the report states seatbelts were not used.
