Greetings! Here it is the end of the first six months of 2018, indicating the year is rapidly sneaking by, and will even be evaporating faster as the summer months come racing in.

When that occurs, it will be leaving the past six months in the shadows!

Can you recall all that you have done or all that was cast aside and forgotten about, letting the thoughts, ideas and actions evaporate into the eons of time; time that can never be recaptured.

Can you look back and see anything that you did that would make a lasting impression upon your friends, family and other loved ones’ lives? Would you do anything different or would you just leave it to evaporate into the pages of time?

What are your plans for the upcoming fresh six months that will be sneaking in over the horizon! Would you do anything different, if you could recall the past six months? I often look back over many years, as I contemplate about some decisions, wondering if I did the correct one, or should I have selected a different one?

I have been writing for newspapers for the past forty-three years, with the first ten or fifteen years of my small hometown paper, being completely written by myself.

Every Monday morning I call each church, civic clubs and organizations, plus the schools, to find out what had occurred over the past week and week-end, and what the plans were for the current meetings that were scheduled for the upcoming week.

During a seven-year period, I also planned for my weekly television show, where I hosted both local and state officials, with my programs being sent out over Southern Oklahoma area and some of north Texas area, just south of the Red River. I think it is about time for me to lay aside those weekly articles, and let me focus on gathering my articles and artifacts, to that I will have the information that will allow me to recall more and more information for my biography.

Therefore, I will be closing out my columns within the next couple of weeks. It has been nice having weekly chats with you, and sending forth good wishes for all and for our city. It has been my pleasure and great enjoyment, in living in this fine city. What a blessing and joy to be  welcomed into the ladies Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary, and how enjoyable, but health problems of both me and my precious deceased husband, kept me from being real active in any organization.

I will miss my columns and activities in various things, but time for me to slow down; well, I am already going pretty slow!!! lol It is a great joy to live in Shawnee and to have made such great friends! It is with great thankfulness for Ms. Kate, Director of the Senior Citizens Center, for giving me a big welcome the first time I walked into her office, several years ago. Also, it was a great honor to be appointed to serve on the Senior Citizen’s Board of Directors and a joy to meet and serve with all the outstanding board members. What a blessing the Senior Citizens’ Center and my church have been, with all the great friends that have always been there for me.

In closing, I share some of my favorite scriptures from Psalms 119:10-12 - “With my whole heart have I sought thee; O let me not wander from thy commandments. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sine against thee. Blessed art thou, O Lord; teach me thy statutes.”
