McLoud police are investigating a deadly shooting that allegedly occurred between two brothers early Thursday morning, the chief of police said.
McLoud Police Chief Tom Pringle said officers responded about 6:45 a.m. to a home in a housing addition near McLoud High School.
Pringle said a 17-year-old boy suffered two gunshot wounds to the torso from a small caliber weapon; that teen later died from his wounds.
The boy's older brother, who Pringle said is 19 or 20 years old, is being questioned by the Pottawatomie County Task Force. The case is being investigated as a homicide, the chief added.
Pringle, who said the two boys and their mother were in the home at the time of the incident, said police did respond to the same home for an earlier disturbance overnight.
Although the brother was detained and was being questioned, Pringle said no arrests had been made as of late Thursday morning, but the investigation is ongoing.
A search warrant is underway at the home, the chief said, and autopsy results are awaited from the state medical examiner.
Watch for updates as police release more information later today.
