A McLoud teenager was fatally shot and killed at his home early Thursday during an alleged altercation with his older brother.

McLoud Police Chief Tom Pringle identified the teen who died as Raydon French, 17, whose name has also been spelled as Rayden French.

McLoud police responded about 6:45 a.m. to a home in the 500 block of W. Heritage Park Circle, which is located in a housing addition near McLoud High School.

The chief said there was some type of altercation at the home that ended with the older brother allegedly shooting the younger brother.

Pringle said French suffered two gunshot wounds to the torso from a small caliber weapon and later died from those wounds.

The older brother, who Pringle said is 19, was questioned Thursday by the Pottawatomie County District Attorney's Task Force as part of the ongoing homicide investigation.

Pringle, who said the brothers and their mother were in the home at the time of the incident, said police did respond to a noise disturbance at the same home overnight. Officers have also responded to previous calls at that home, Pringle confirmed.

Although the older brother was detained for questioning on Thursday, Pringle said he was not arrested and therefore his name is not being released. All case reports will be turned over to the district attorney's office for formal review and consideration of any possible charges.
