A McLoud police officer avoided being hit by an alleged drunk driver overnight along Interstate 40 by jumping into the median.
McLoud Police Chief Tom Pringle said a vehicle driven by a suspected drunk driver did slam into a McLoud police car at that scene.
"The officer had to dive over the guardrail into the median to keep from getting hit," Pringle said.
The officer involved was reported to be OK, the chief said, but the McLoud police car is totaled.
More information is awaited on the driver and any possible injuries that person may have suffered.
