Jewel Stroder was born to Jessie Creecy and Ruth (Long) Creecy on May 18, 1938, in Waynesboro, Tennessee. She passed away on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018, in Shawnee. She was 80 years old.

Preceding her in death were her grandson Kyle Adam Stroder, her husband Carl (Bud) Leon Stroder, and a brother Jessie Jr. Creecy.

Jewel married Carl Bud Stroder on Sept. 16, 1954, in Osceola, Arkansas.

Survivors include son Carl Dennis Stroder of Plainview, Arkansas, and daughters Sherry Diane Stroder of Shawnee, Brenda Butler of Sparks, Mona Burleson of Oklahoma City, Tracy Stroder of San Francisco, California, Sharon Stroder of Chandler, two brothers Melvin Creecy of Arkansas, and Billy Creecy of North Carolina, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.

Besides being a mother and housewife, she also had many jobs where she worked at an elastic factory in Mississippi, a blanket factory and fuel haul in North Carolina, and a sewing factory in Chandler and TDK in Shawnee where she retired after 24 years.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 8, at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker with Rev. Joe Jones officiating.
