Several area students are preparing to head to to school this week and next, including Dale starting Wednesday and classes resuming Thursday in Tecumseh, so motorists are reminded to watch those school zones and obey laws for the red flashing lights of a school bus.

The Tecumseh Police Department reports it will be out in full force enforcing the school zones and the use of the new crosswalks — the HAWK system, which is High Intensity Activated Crosswalk — for vehicular traffic and pedestrians alike.

Police remind drivers that those who violate school bus yield laws are subject to hefty fines and even suspension of their driver license.
