SHAWNEE – The Dale Lady Pirates came up short against Blanchard, losing 6-5 in eight innings at the 2018 Chisholm Trail Classic.
Dale managed three runs in the first inning behind a Lacey Savage RBI and Riley Primo's two-run double.
Blanchard scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning, bringing the score to 3-2 in favor of Dale.
Jobey Savage knocked in another run in the seventh inning to give Dale a 4-2 lead. Blanchard would tie up the game in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings.
Addie Bell drove in a run in the top of the eighth giving Dale a momentary 5-4 lead.
Bell was the lone Lady Pirate with two hits in the game. Lacey Savage, Danyn Lang, Jobey Savage, Primo, Jalynn Haley, Skyler Thompson and Sydney Griggs each recorded a hit.
Delanie Manning pitched a complete game, striking out five in the loss.
Dale rebounded in the second game, beating Piedmont 13-7 in five innings.
Piedmont scored first in the game but Sara Lock scored on a single by Idelman in the bottom of the third to bring the score even 1-1.
Thompson kept the momentum going in the third, blasting a three-run home run extending the Dale lead to 4-1.
In the fourth inning, Lock helped the Lady Pirates stay out front with an RBI single.
Manning went yard for the third time this season. The blast to dead center was a grand slam that put Dale up 9-2.
Dale will play Lone Grove at 4 p.m. Friday. They conclude action on Friday with a second game against Perry at 7 p.m.
