A former McLoud volunteer firefighter who was formally charged last week in a case involving lewd acts was arrested by the warrants team and U.S. Marshals on a second arrest warrant late Tuesday, the sheriff reports, and he made a court appearance Wednesday morning.

Eugene Alan Sordahl, 32, is being held in the Pottawatomie County Public Safety Center on $30,000 bond. He was formally charged in Pottawatomie County District Court on Aug. 7 with one count of lewd acts to a child under 16 and one count of sexual battery, both felonies.

The McLoud Police Department investigated this case last month, at which time Sordahl was reported to be a volunteer firefighter; he is no longer associated with the McLoud Fire Department.

The arrest affidavit filed with the charges shows Sordahl was first arrested in this matter by McLoud police on July 24 after that department investigated the case. He was reportedly released from jail the following day following a paperwork issue.

As a result, a new arrest warrant was issued with filing of the charges last week and the warrant team made that arrest as a result of a traffic stop, Sheriff Mike Booth said. As part of the effort to locate Sordahl, deputies also arrested a female on a complaint of obstruction and harboring a fugitive, Booth said, and they will like seek an arrest warrant for another person as well.

According to the affidavit, allegations in the case involve two females who reportedly lived in a home with their mother and Sordahl.

The investigation started after an initial domestic violence call at a McLoud home, the court document shows, with McLoud police later visiting with the two females at the police station about inappropriate comments or behavior involving Sordahl.

Following the court appearance Wednesday, Sordahl's next court date for a scheduling hearing was set for September.

There is no attorney of record yet listed on Sordahl's case.
