RIPLEY – The second-ranked Dale Pirates beat up No. 17 ranked Ripley 12-4 Monday night.

The Pirates led 3-0 after the first half inning. Karson Hunt hit a double that scored David Herring. Jared Rogers scored Hunt from second with a single, and Bryce Crawford brought Rogers home on a single.

Ripley scored one run in the second inning to keep things close at 3-1.

In the second inning, Dale's Ike Shirey reached on a dropped third strike and wild pitch. The wild pitch would allow Stroud Ash to score. Herring went yard to right field giving Dale a 6-1 advantage.

With Crawford at the plate, Hunt would score on an error by the catcher and Dale would hold a 7-1 lead after two innings.

It was more Dale offense in the fourth, when Tanner Collins brought Cooper Hunt home with a single, giving Dale a 8-1 lead.

Herring singled in the top of the fifth inning and Shirey scored Dale's ninth run of the contest.

Ripley scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Jono Johnson hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning that scored Rogers and Dale took a commanding 10-4 lead. Cade Capps singled and scored Crawford, extending the Pirate lead to 11-4.

Karson Hunt drove in Herring for the final Dale run in the top of the seventh inning.

Herring went 3 for 3 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Capps and Karson Hunt each had three hits in the win.

Cooper Hunt and Rogers each belted two hits. Crawford, Collins and Shirey had one hit apiece.

Crawford pitched two innings, striking out five. Cooper Hunt pitched one inning and struck out two. Johnson went four innings and struck out three Ripley batters.

Dale (8-4) returns to action with a home contest versus Amber-Pocasset Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for a 4:30 start.
