The Shawnee Police Department reports Shawnee officers have arrested a Tecumseh police officer in a domestic assault complaint involving the officer's son.
Shawnee Police Cpl. Vivano Lozano-Stafford said Shawnee officers made contact Sunday with Taylor McCord regarding a domestic disturbance that allegedly occurred Friday night at Buffalo Wild Wings in Shawnee.
"Taylor advised that while at Buffalo Wild Wings with his father, Jesse McCord, they were involved in a 'heated discussion,'" Lozano-Stafford said. "Taylor stated that Jesse 'leaped' out of his chair and wrapped his hand around his neck and began to choke him."
As a result of the case, Jesse McCord, 47, was arrested by Shawnee police and jailed at the Pottawatomie County Public Safety Center on a complaint of Domestic Assault & Battery by Strangulation. Formal charges have not been filed, but case reports will be turned over to the district attorney's office for review.
Jesse McCord, a Tecumseh police officer, has been placed on paid administrative leave pending an administrative investigation, Tecumseh Police Chief J.R. Kidney said.
