DALE — It took Dale just 2 ½ innings to apply a 15-0 spanking of Wellston Tuesday.

The contest was stopped on the 15-run after three-inning rule.

The Lady Pirates erupted for 14 runs in the bottom of the first inning, then added a single tally in the second. Dale didn’t bat in the third.

Pitcher Delanie Manning improved to 11-2 by allowing one hit in three innings. She struck out six and didn’t issue a free pass.

Dale, in two innings at the plate, collected 14 hits, including a triple and single each by Danyn Lang and Rylie Premo. Manning chipped in with a double and Skyler Thompson offered two singles.

Dale, 14-2, will participate in the 20-team Tushka Tournament Friday and Saturday.

Six 2017 state tournament teams from Dale’s class will be included in the Tushka field.

Dale will launch tournament play at 1 p.m. Friday against the Rock Creek-Savanna winner. Coach Andy Powell’s Dale squad could play as many as three games Friday.

Dale captured the tournament crown last year in its first appearance.
