LATTA — Cooper Hunt and Karson Hunt homered Friday, igniting Dale to a 13-9 triumph over Latta at the Latta Tournament.

Karson Hunt homered as Dale scored three runs in the top of the second. Cooper Hunt swatted a solo shot as Dale tallied one run in the seventh to complete the scoring.

The Pirates led just 6-5 entering the fifth but put up a six-spot to lead 12-5. Latta completed its scoring with a run in the fifth and three runs in the sixth.

Karson Hunt posted a team-high four runs batted in.

Dale compiled 14 hits as Bryce Crawford and Jared Rogers chalked up three apiece. Crawford, who had a double, drove in three runs on the day. Rogers drove in a run with a first-inning single.

David Herring, who managed two singles in four trips to the plate, scored three times and knocked in two runs. Jono Johnson doubled and Ike Shirey recorded two RBI on a single and sacrifice fly.

Karson Hunt, the starting pitcher, surrendered five hits and five runs in four innings. Hunt, who was awarded the win, fanned two and walked three.

Crawford was employed on the mound for two innings. He permitted four runs and three hits. He fanned four and walked three. Herring pitched a perfect seventh with two strikeouts.

Crawford, Herring and Rogers each stole a base.

Randis Gray and Braden Schroeder doubled for Latta.

Dale, 11-4, will continue tournament action at 10 a.m. Saturday.
