The 1982 murder of a Prague woman is still unsolved.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is asking for the public's help in hopes of solving that cold case from 1982.

At about 7:50 a.m. on March 5, 1982, Sherry Eileen Lakins was discovered deceased in her residence located on west 7th street in Prague.

Lakins was found by her then 6-year-old son, who reported that his mother's throat was “cut open,” the OSBI reported.

Her cause of death was ruled as strangulation and multiple stab wounds.

The OSBI hopes featuring this cold case as part of its ongoing cold case playing card series might lead to new tips to help solve the case.

At the time of her death, Lakins worked at Boley schools. She was last seen alive on the evening of March 4, 1982, between 10 and 10:15 p.m., sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle in the driveway of her residence.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call OSBI's tip line at 1-800-522-8017. All callers can remain anonymous.
