DALE — Jono Johnson and Ike Shirey combined for a three-hitter Thursday as Dale blasted Preston 10-0.

The game was stopped after 4 ½ innings on the run rule.

Johnson allowed one hit, fanned six and didn’t surrender a base on balls in three innings. Shirey, in two innings of work, gave up two hits, fanned three and walked one

The Pirates, 14-6, notched four runs in both the first and third innings.

Dale unloaded 10 hits, including a 3-of-3 success by cleanup hitter Jared Rogers. Rogers scored three times and posted a two-run single in the first.

Bryce Crawford, operating out of the leadoff slot, was 2 for 3 with a double and two runs batted in. Johnson led Dale with three RBI off a 2-of-3 performance which included a two-bagger.

Shirey added two singles. Dalton Forsythe, David Herring, Rogers and Shirey stole a base.

The Pirates will entertain Sterling at 1 p.m. Saturday.
