• Check out some music: The Legend of Johnny Cash Starring Philip Bauer will be Saturday, Oct. 13, from 7-9 p.m. at the Shawnee High School Performing Arts Center , 1001 N Kennedy Ave. The event is presented by Boomarang's Keep Giving Back Foundation for Oklahoma Public Schools. Enjoy Johnny Cash's greatest hits from every decade of his career, performed by the country's greatest Cash tribute artist. Proceeds benefit the Oklahoma Public School System. • Check out Ocktoberfest: St. John Lutheran Church hosts a rousing celebration and auction every October and this year it will be Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Benedict Center, 632 N. Kickapoo. Lively German music and entertainment, bratwurst, and other authentic fare are enjoyed by all. Along with music, a German meal of bratwurst, German potato salad and other authentic fare will be available. Tickets for the event are $15 for Adults, $6 for children 6-12 and those under 5 are FREE. • Get involved and informed: The monthly meeting of Indivisible Shawnee will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Shawnee Public Library. The candidates for district attorney, Adam Panter and Allen Grubb, and for associate district judge, Kelli McCullar and Tracy McDaniel, will each have opportunity to present their qualifications and motivation for seeking office. Following the presentations there will be an opportunity for the public to ask questions. The public is invited to attend.
