MEEKER — Down 22-6 in the second quarter, Meeker rallied for a vital 32-22 District 2A-2 triumph over Okemah Friday night.

Meeker received second-quarter touchdowns from Caden Wolford (21-yard run) and quarterback Jacob Martin (7-yard run) to pull within 22-18 at the intermission. Meeker attempted three 2-point conversions in the opening half and all three failed.

Okemah failed to score in the closing half while Meeker earned a 24-yard scoring ramble by Wolford on the opening drive of the third quarter and Martin’s 6-yard scoring dash midway through the fourth quarter.

Meeker rushed for 300 yards on 39 attempts. Wolford racked up 172 yards on 21 carries. Martin amassed 121 yards on 17 carries.

Dawson Stanberry of Meeker caught five passes for 48 yards while teammate Xavier Masquas had two receptions for 25 yards, including a 5-yard scoring effort in the opening quarter.

Dakota Gabbert added two catches for 23 yards.

Meeker posted three turnovers to just one for Okemah. Meeker’s J.J. Bloomer recorded a fumble recovery in the second half.

Jeremy Ellis, Martin and Gabbert notched six tackles apiece.

Meeker, tied with Okemah for fourth place in District 2A-2 entering Friday’s game, moved to 3-1. Okemah fell to 2-2. Meeker is 6-1 overall and Okemah is 5-3 overall.

Meeker will continue 6A-2 play Thursday night at Holdenville.
