Thirty-two students earned either membership or alternate membership into one of three honor bands that are based on age and experience levels. These students will return to Ada in January for two days of intensive practice that will culminate with a concert given by the students in the new fine arts center on the campus of East Central University.

On the following Monday, many of these students also auditioned for and were selected for membership in the Oklahoma Baptist University All-Region Honor Band. This group also meets in January for rehearsals prior to giving a concert on the campus of OBU.
“All of the students had to work very hard to improve on the challenging audition music that is used to identify those students with the best skills,” said band director Kirby Swinney. “Rather a student was selected or not is secondary to the fact that all of the students that auditioned became a better musician by participating in the process. Congratulations to all who competed.”
