Students in the chemistry breakout session created “Elephant Toothpaste” with hydrogen peroxide solution, dish detergent, warm water, yeast and food coloring. The Gordon Cooper Technology Center Pre-Engineering Academy sponsored the event along with co-sponsors Boeing, Oklahoma Energy Resources Board, Oklahoma Wind Power Research Group, OSU-Okmulgee Tech and the Gordon Cooper Aviation Maintenance Campus. Student break-out sessions included hands-on activities in the areas of chemistry, aerospace, designing and building geodesic domes, building and testing wind turbines, and learning concepts of nano technology. Some 240 students in sixth, seventh and eighth grades from 16 area schools participated.
