Shawnee Library offers free computer class

SHAWNEE, Okla. —

The free, introductory computer classes at the Shawnee Public Library, 101 N. Philadelphia, continue to grow in popularity.
This month the series of classes will be offered, one each day during the week of Sept. 22 through 26. No registration is required for the classes. Each session offers instruction and hands-on computer time.
Introduction to Computers is Monday, Sept. 22, beginning at 10 a.m. It is for the absolute beginner; emphasis will be on learning the parts of the computer and operating the mouse.
Introduction to the Internet is Tuesday, Sept. 23, beginning at 10 a.m.
It will cover the basics of navigating the Internet, including using search engines. Basic computer skills and knowledge, including ability to use a mouse are required to attend this class.
Getting Started with E-mail is Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m. The class will focus on creating and using one of the free e-mail services available on-line.
Computer and Internet skills are required to attend the class.
Using Microsoft Windows is Thursday, Sept. 25, at 10 a.m.
This class is intended for the beginning computer user and covers topics such as learning about the desktop, working with windows and understanding the basic operation of Windows XP.
 Microsoft Word is Friday, Sept. 26, at 10 a.m. the class will focus on word processing for the beginner using Microsoft Word to write letters, create resumes, and more.
