On Thursday evening, Oct. 22, Shawnee police officers conducted alcohol sale compliance checks at local convenience stores, grocery stores and liquor stores.
Shawnee Police Department Cpl. Dan Shumaker said, “Two clerks sold alcohol to the participants and the clerks that sold alcohol to the 2 Much 2 Lose participants have been cited, and their cases will be heard in municipal court.”
The location of the violations according to the police report show that the convenience store located at 32nd Street and Kickapoo and the Bottoms Up liquor store located at 123 W. MacArthur were in violation of Oklahoma State alcohol sales law.
The compliance checks are part of the 2 Much 2 Lose program in an effort to combat underage drinking in Shawnee.
According to statistics put out by the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office, approximately 40 percent of all fatal traffic crashes occurring in Oklahoma are alcohol related.
If you or anyone you know has information on any business that sells beer or liquor to underage individuals, please call the Shawnee Police Crime Stoppers at 273-0989.
