Today
Pioneer Library System libraries in Cleveland, McClain and Pottawatomie counties will be closed.

Host for BURN Shawnee is Bethel Acres Assembly of God Church, one mile south of Hardesty Road on Bethel Road, beginning at 7 p.m. today and ending at 9 p.m. Saturday. The event features 26 hours of praise and worship.
Saturday
St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, corner of Ninth and Center, will have its monthly bean dinner 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The menu will be brown and white beans, cornbread, coleslaw and homemade desserts. Costs will be  $1.50 for children and $3 for adults. Proceeds go toward local and extended missions.
Monday
A week-long basketball clinic for boys and girls in fifth through 10th grades begins today at Pleasant Grove School. Registration will be held 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., and the cost is $50 per participant. The clinic will be held 9 a.m. to noon each day, and concessions will be available. T-shirts are included for the clinic.
Tuesday
A two-day AARP safe driving class will be held at 1 p.m. and at 1 p.m. Thursday at Shawnee Senior Center, 401 N. Bell.
The class is open to all licensed drivers, and all who complete the class will be eligible for a discount on auto insurance.

Wednesday, July 9
The retired railroaders will meet at 11 a.m. at I Don’t Care, the restaurant at the Best Western Cinderella Hotel, 623 Kickapoo Spur. Bricen Mohr, Shawnee Police Department, will be guest speaker.

Tuesday, July 15
Tribbey Area Cemetery Association will hold their annual meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tribbey School grounds in the Dale Smith Community Building.
