Seminole State College will offer a two-day personal self-defense training through a community service course Tuesday, Dec. 1 and Thursday, Dec. 3.
The non-college credit class will be offered from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in Foundation Hall of the Haney Center on the SSC campus.
Cost for the course is $59 per person, payable in advance at the SSC Office of Admissions in Tanner Hall.
Training is designed to teach simple, yet effective, self-defense techniques.
The class will cover how to recognize potential threats and avoid dangerous situations. Basic self-defense striking and evasive maneuvers choke escapes and counter attacks will be demonstrated.
Instructor for the course will be Marty Garrison, who has taught this class for more than 20 years to law enforcement officers, military personnel and prison guards.
Pre-enrollment is required, and can be handled by phone through Carol Hartman by calling 405-382-9246. Those wishing to enroll may also drop by the SSC Office of Admissions in Tanner Hall. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays through Thursdays; and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays.
