Local students to perform in ECU's latest chorale concert

The East Central University Singers, the University Chorale and the ECU Gospel Choir will perform at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1300 E. Beverly in Ada. Admission is free.
The ECU Gospel Choir is conducted by Dr. Melody Baggech, assistant professor of music. Dr. Steven Walker conducts the ECU Singers and the University Chorale. Accompanists will be Dr. Starla Hibler and Rudy Lupinski.
Many of the students perform in more than one of the groups.
The ECU Singers will perform “Laudate Dominum” from “Vesperae solennes de confessore, K 339” by W. A. Mozart with Baggech as soprano soloist.
The ECU Gospel Choir will sing “Praise Him” by Carrol Cymbala with Amber Thomas as soloist, and “Who is Like the Lord” by Israel Houghton with Jessica McKennell as soloist.
Instrumentalists include Justin Cody, bass guitar; Tommy Long, electric guitar; Colin Low, acoustic guitar; and Kyle Littlejohn, percussion.
On the program for the select University Chorale are “God’s in His Heaven” by Ada composers Victoria Davison and Rudy Lupinski; and three pieces based on E.E. Cumming’s poem, “I thank You God,” by Davison-Lupinski, Loyd Pfautsch and Phillip Berryhill.
The Chorale also will perform “Morro Lasso” by Carlo Gesualdo; “Singet dem Herrn ein neues Lied” by Heinrich Schütz and “The Drunken Sailor,” arranged by Robert Sund.
Students performing are listed by groups they are performing with and hometowns:
• Jesse Gordon, university singers, and Kaleb Gordon, university chorale, Seminole
• Sheena Stallings, university chorale and gospel choir, Shawnee
• Justin Cody and Tim Long, university chorale and gospel choir, and Tommy Long, university singers, Tecumseh
• Meg McConnell, university singers, university chorale and gospel choir, Wellston
