American born Jonathan Roberts enjoyed athletics in high school and did not discover dance until he was 20. After watching a tango in the movie, “Scent of a Woman,” he decided to take the free ballroom lessons that were offered with his movie ticket. He soon discovered his passion for dance. He has several championships to his credit including the 1997 USA Rising Star American Ballroom and the USA Pro-Am Latin championship won with Pamela Butler.
Anna Trebunskaya was born in Russia to professional ballroom dancers who owned a dance studio. She moved to the U.S. when she was 17. She also has won several championships including 1998 USA Amateur Youth Standard Ballroom and the 2004 USA Rising Star Latin.
They danced competitively together for six years. As a couple they achieved the ranking of sixth in the U.S. and 24th in world competition. They joined the Dancing With The Stars cast when it began in 2005 and have continued to be involved with teaching celebrities a different ballroom dance each week. Recently, he danced with Marie Osmond, entertainer, winning third place, while she danced with Jerry Rice, a football player, and they won second place.
