The George Kaiser Family Foundation presented Family Promise of Shawnee with a $15,000 donation this week to help support Family Promise’s transportation services for homeless families in the Shawnee community.
“The George Kaiser Family Foundation focuses on areas that strengthen families and children,” said Ken Levit, executive director of the George Kaiser Family Foundation. “Family Promise of Shawnee is a great example of an organization that is on the front lines working to strengthen families and end the cycle of poverty.”
Sen. Charles Laster participated in the celebration, along with Rep. Kris Steele and Peggy North, executive director of Family Promise of Shawnee.
Since 2005, Family Promise of Shawnee has been serving homeless families through a strong network of 10 host congregations and more than 500 community volunteers.
