A portion of Interstate 40 in downtown Oklahoma City has been reopened after workers made repairs in the road after a hole developed.
Oklahoma Department of Transportation spokeswoman Mills Gotcher says all but one lane of westbound I-40 near Classen Boulevard was closed for about six hours before reopening about 10 p.m. on Sunday.
John Fuller, ODOT's chief engineer, has said that the elevated portion of I-40 in downtown Oklahoma City is prone to holes, bad joints and falling concrete. But he also said that those problems did not mean the road was unsafe for motorists.
The road, also known as the Crosstown Expressway, is being replaced during the next few years.
