Family Promise of Shawnee hosted its annual Volunteer Awards Banquet recently at Oklahoma Baptist University’s Geiger Center. Approximately 100 people were in attendance. Volunteers were recognized for helping homeless families with children.
Family Promise of Shawnee is a faith-based program that helps homeless families with children by providing shelter, food, transportation, and case management. Local churches provide overnight lodging (in their church facili- ties) for the families and a hot evening meal. Each hosting and helper church has a Family Promise coordinator that organizes their hosting week. The coordinators who were recognized include:
