A local benefit concert — Valentines Blood Bash — that was originally set to raise money for a local blood institute has been changed to the H.A.I.T.I. — Helping Another Is a True Intention — benefit concert for those affected by the recent earthquake in Haiti.
The concert, which is hosted by Sedition Management Group/Productions will be held 8 p.m., Feb. 12 at the Shawnee Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1317 building, 811 E. MacArthur.
A portion of the proceeds of headlining bands will be donated to a relief fund for those in Haiti, Wayne Allison, SMGP founder, said.
Allison said Nancy Phillips of the Shawnee Salvation Army will assist SMGP with ensuring that the donation is provided to the proper authorities.
“It’s not how much money you can donate, it’s the donation money you can afford that makes a difference,” Allison said.
SMGP held a similar benefit concert in September 2009 at Little River Music Valley, with a portion of the proceeds from that event donated to a boys and girls club.
Local bands performing during the benefit concert are Wildsallee, Shawnee/Oklahoma City and Dead Set, Shawnee/Wellston. Other bands scheduled for the event are Deadcore, Lawton; The Eulogy, Norman/Tulsa; and Plastic Image, Oklahoma City.
Tickets are available at www.ticketstorm.com at a cost of $6 each and will be available at the door on the day of the show.
Bands will donate $1 of each ticket sold to the Salvation Army for delivery to the Haiti relief fund.
A donation box also will be located at the door during the show.
Sponsors of the concert include National Petrochem, Music Unlimited, Deadringer Tattoo and M&M graphics/creations.
