Kolin Jones of Earlsboro is one of 120 freshmen students selected to receive a $1,500 President’s Leadership Council Scholarship at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater this fall.
This special freshman scholarship is based upon academic achievement, leadership potential and school and community service. Each student will take a three-hour leadership class and will serve on the President’s Leadership Council, which is both an honorary and a working organization, according to the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs.
As part of the President’s Leadership Council, students will be expected to continue excellence in these areas as they continue to develop their personal leadership skills. Students selected for the council have a combined total of more than 4,500 community service hours each year.
Jones, a 2009 graduate of Earlsboro High School, is the son of Blake and Rachelle Jones of Earlsboro. He plans to major in architecture. He also received an OSU Valedictorian Scholarship.
