The Wewoka Police Department and Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation are probing a fatal stabbing Saturday night at 215 W. Cedar Street.
Just before 9 p.m., Erwin Wimberly, 44, was stabbed by his brother, Labron Cosby, 51, the OSBI reported.
The two were arguing in a vacant lot where many people had gathered.
Wimberly was transported by ambulance to the hospital in Seminole, where he was pronounced dead.
Cosby was arrested on a murder complaint and booked into the city jail, the OSBI said, but was released Sunday night after an initial investigation indicates the possibility of self defense.
OSBI continues to investigate the killing and will present a report to the district attorney’s office.
The district attorney will decide if any charges will be filed in the case.
