Tecumseh police have released the identity of the Oklahoma City man killed in an accident Thursday night on SH 9.

Larry Williamson, 62, of Oklahoma City, died at the scene from injuries he suffered in that crash, said Tecumseh Police Department Spokesman Todd Beesley.

The head-on collision occurred near Harrison Street, east of the U.S. 177 interchange.
Beesley said preliminary investigation into the crash indicates Williamson was driving an older-model Cadillac westbound on SH 9 when his vehicle was struck head-on by a pickup traveling eastbound in the wrong lane.

Beesley said Robert Allen McCarty, 55, of Choctaw, was driving a Chevrolet pickup eastbound in the westbound lanes of SH 9 when the accident occurred.
That area of SH 9 is divided, with two lanes in both the eastbound and westbound directions.

From witness reports being collected, McCarty had been in the wrong lane from where SH 9 begins to divide in that area, Beesley said.

Williamson had to extricated from the wreckage by Tecumseh firefighters.

McCarty was taken by REACT EMS ambulance to Unity Health Center with unspecified injuries, although Beesley said he was reported to be in stable condition. It was unknown Friday it he had been treated and released, admitted or transferred to another facility.

The accident remains under investigation, Beesley said, adding that officers are still looking into the possibility that alcohol may have been involved in this accident.

Traffic was diverted while westbound SH 9 into Tecumseh was shut down as crews worked that scene. Tecumseh officers were assisted by Pottawatomie County sheriff’s deputies, tribal police, as well as a state troopers at that scene.
