Unity Health Center Board of Directors announced the re-appointment of Michelle Briggs as board chair for another term and the appointment of Charles Shields to vice-chairman of the board and his re-election to another term.
For the past 10 years, Briggs has served on Unity’s board. She attended the University of Arkansas and graduated from the University of Wisconsin Graduate School of Banking in Madison and currently is an agent with Farm Bureau Insurance.
Shields graduated from East Central University with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and physics and earned a Master of Mathematics from Oklahoma State University.
Throughout the years, Shields has been a coach, teacher, principal and superintendent at several area schools including Dover, Bethel and Tecumseh.
He was an adjunct professor at East Central University, St. Gregory’s University and Oklahoma Baptist University.
Currently, Shields is the federal programs manager for 26 schools, Board of Education collective bargaining agent and Board of Education trainer.
