The Shawnee Board of Education voted Tuesday to sell $3 million in bonds recently approved by voters for Dec. 8.
The sale will take place at 12:45 p.m. at the administration building, 326 N. Union.
The special meeting was called because the board needed to approve the selling of the bonds to comply with law.
Deadline for making reservations for the 2009 Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art Volunteers’ Holiday Gala is 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20.
Gala tickets may be reserved by calling the museum at 878-5300. The annual event will be at 6 p.m., Friday, Dec. 4 at the museum on the St. Gregory’s University campus. It will include dinner, entertainment, live and silent auctions.

A lawsuit filed three years ago in Pottawatomie County District Court by the city of Shawnee against three companies hired to engineer and install an ozone machine for treatment of the city’s water has been settled through mediation.
The lawsuit, which originated in 2006, sought resolution regarding the inability for the city to use a machine installed at its water treatment plant.
Just in time for cooler temperatures across the state, the top 5 percent of 2010 Shawnee High School graduating seniors received academic letter jackets from Arvest Bank Tuesday.
