Shawnee police are in the beginning stages of investigating an assault of several people that occurred outside a local pub around closing time Sunday morning.
The incident occurred about 1:54 a.m. outside Knuckles, 113 N. Bell, a report shows.
Two people reported to officers that they were jumped by a male suspect who was allegedly going around and trying to get people to fight, the report shows.
A 28-year-old woman told police the man approached her from behind, pulled her hair and pushed her into a wall before punching and kicking her, the report said.
The initial report notes that the woman had a scratch on her leg, a bruise on her lower back and her face was swollen.
A 30-year-old man also reported being assaulted. He had bruises on his forehead and his eyes were swollen; he also had a busted lip.
According to those reporting the assault, a friend found a driver license at the scene that may belong to a possible suspect. That license was logged into police evidence.
Shawnee Police Lt. R.L. Gribble said several assault and battery complaints have been launched from what was initially called in to police as a disturbance.
Police are in the process of collecting voluntary statements and the case will be given to a detective for further investigation, Gribble said. The incident apparently involved several Oklahoma Baptist University students, Gribble said, but no arrests have been made.
