Longtime Shawnee resident Stan Blakemore, 58, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at his home.
Stan was born Sept. 27, 1953, in Durant to G.C. and Frances Blakemore. He lived in Kingston until 1962, when the family moved to Moore. A year later, the family moved to Durant and then moved to Shawnee in 1966.
On June 26, 1976, Stan married Diane Lowe at Immanuel Baptist Church in Shawnee.
Stan graduated from Shawnee High School in 1971, where he played football and baseball. He went on to attend Oklahoma State University, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1975. He earned his CPA certification in 1982. After graduation, he started working for Hunt Oil Company in Dallas, Texas, then returned to Shawnee in 1980 to work for Wolverine Tube, Inc. In 1983, he entered public accounting by joining Butch Boggs accounting firm in Seminole. In 1985, he established his own public accounting firm in Shawnee with Jeff Anderson and Mark Knox. Through the years, other partners included Gary Hathcock, Jim Wilsie and Larry Hull. In 1999, he merged with John Gibson and James Reynolds and formed the partnership of Gibson, Reynolds, and Blakemore, PC, where he served until his death.
Stan is survived by his wife of 35 years, Diane Blakemore of Shawnee; two sons, Cameron Blakemore of Guthrie and Kendall Blakemore, of New York City; four grandchildren, Corrin, Camille, Caellan, and Tatum Blakemore of Shawnee; one brother and sister-in-law, Stacy and Leona Blakemore of Shawnee; one sister and brother-in-law, Cherilyn and Roy Williams of Oklahoma City; and a host of family and friends.
Stan was a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday School Director, R.A. Leader and deacon. He enjoyed traveling, hiking, skiing and attending OSU sports events with his family. He was a member of the Screaming Banshees intramural sports team for four years.
Services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Immanuel Baptist Church with Dr. Todd Fisher and Rev. Jeff Anderson officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Feb. 6, at Walker Funeral Home in Shawnee. Private interment will be Feb. 11 at Resthaven Cemetery with Rev. Bob Scrutchins officiating.
